APPLICATION PROCESS EXPLAINED

PHASE 1:  APPLY

[ezcol_1fifth]alert[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]Every person on your team must be performing.  If they are not performing, they can NOT purchase a performer’s pass.  Also, you can NOT perform with a General Admission pass which includes a pass you purchased with a Group.  That dancer will need to request a on-time transfer (only Full Event & All Nights Passes can be transferred).[/ezcol_4fifth_end]

  • The team’s Primary Contact will submit ONE (1) Performers Application per performance.
  • Please only send one request per PERFORMANCE (not team).  Duplicates can cause delays, will be ignored and automatically deleted.
  • IMPORTANT!  A link to your performance is REQUIRED!  Even if it’s a rough practice run.  No exceptions!
  • A copy of the application will be emailed to the Primary Contact upon submitting request.
  • ALL Applications are due by October 31st. (EXTENDED through DECEMBER)
  • Any applications received after this date will not be processed until December and are subject to the current price scale upon approval. [hr]

PHASE 2:  APPROVAL

  • All performances must be approved to perform.
  • All approved teams will be notified by the 1st or 2nd week in November.
  • Upon approval, the REGISTRATION COMMITTEE CHAIR will send an acceptance email with a special payment link to the Primary Contact to complete registration and make FULL Payment.
  • If you do NOT receive a payment link from Registration within 2-3 weeks, please do NOT fill out another application.  Contact the Registration directly using our Contact Form.
  • You CAN email this payment link to each of your dancers, but we HIGHLY recommend making one payment and registering the team in one transaction.  IMPORTANT!  Performance Name and Song Title must all MATCH to avoid confusion!

[ezcol_1fifth]alert[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]Each approved team/couple will be guaranteed one performance at the Houston Salsa Congress.  Multiple team/couple performances will be approved on a case-by-case basis depending on availability.  Individuals can perform up to THREE times per pass but it is the responsibility of the dancer to work within the assigned performance schedule. 

Teams will NOT be allowed to perform more than one routine this year due to overwhelming performance requests.  Ex: ABC Salsa Team will not be allowed to perform ABC Bachata Team with the same dancers.  Please choose your BEST performance! [/ezcol_4fifth_end][hr]

PHASE 3:  PAYMENT

  • REGISTRATION handles all the registration and the payment processes.
  • Registration will send approved teams a payment link.
  • Approved applicants have until November 30th to make FULL payment for ALL dancers.
  • Once expired, you can still complete your registration but at full price and/or a Service Fee may apply.
  • If FULL payment is not received by December 15th, your team will be taken off the roster.
  • If you have dancers performing on different teams, only one payment is required for that dancer (up to 3 performances).
  • IMPORTANT!  Register everyone on your team under the SAME email address, SAME performance name and SAME song title!
  • If you do not know the names of your dancers at time of payment, YOU will have to accompany each dancer to registration to collect their pass OR you can pay a Service Fee per dancer to have it transferred into their name.  We can not simply “replace” a name on a ticket; the system does not allow it.

SINGLE PAYMENT OPTION NOW AVAILABLE!
Let us register your team for you.  For teams 6+, you now have the option to participate in a Single Payment OptionDOWNLOAD the Performance Form template file, and then upload it with your payment on the Single Payment Option page no later than November 30th…our team of volunteers will do the rest for you!

PHASE 4:  TICKETS

  • Once payment is received, the Primary Contact will be emailed ticketing information to the email(s) listed.
  • Please bring an electronic or paper copy to Registration on the day of the event with a valid PHOTO ID.
  • Performers can pick up their passes when Registration opens only.
  • You can NOT pick up passes for teammates.
  • All Passes will be placed on the LEFT wrist for security reasons.  No exceptions.  Ankle placement is for PROFESSIONALS only.
  • Abusing this system is considered theft.  Any person caught using a Performers Pass and not performing or approved by HSD, will be immediately escorted out of the building by security, and banned from all future HSD sponsored AND possibly partnering events.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN – THINGS YOU NEED:

Because we are a non-profit organization, we must require the same terms from every team.

  • Performances longer than 3 minutes will NOT be approved!  NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Applications without links will be DENIED!  Video does not have to be high quality. A practice video or the instructors performing is good enough BUT we will use this content to determine placement on the roster and to make sure it is appropriate.
  • Music must have been acquired from a LEGAL source!
  • Offensive language must be edited out since our audience may include children under 18 years old.
  • You will also be asked for a full roster of those performing and Directors (2 max). You can send us an updated roster if changed.
  • If you do not have a link to your performance and wish to keep it private, open a FREE 2 GIG Dropbox account as stated below.

About Your REQUIRED Video:

  1. Sign Up for a free account (2 gigs).  You will be asked to download the App to your phone or to your computer.  You do NOT have to download the program to your computer.  Once you verify your email address, simply go to dropbox.com and sign in.
  2. Upload your video.
  3. Click on the SHARE button to the right of the title of your video.
  4. Click on “Create a Link”, and then “Copy Link”
  5. Paste that link in the Performance Link field on your application.
