APPLICATION PROCESS EXPLAINED

PHASE ONE:  APPLY TO PERFORM

Every person on your team must be performing.  If they are not performing, they can NOT purchase a performer’s pass.  Also, you can NOT perform with a General Admission pass which includes a pass you purchased with a Group.  That dancer will need to request a on-time transfer (only Full Event/Night Passes can transfer).

  • The team’s Primary Contact will submit ONE (1) Performers Application for the entire team.
  • Please only send one request per team.  Duplicates can cause delays, will be ignored and automatically deleted.
  • IMPORTANT!  A link to your performance is REQUIRED!  Even if it’s a rough practice run.  No exceptions!
  • A copy of the application will be emailed to the Primary Contact upon submitting request.
  • ALL Applications are due by October 31st. 

PHASE TWO:  APPROVAL PROCESS

  • All teams must be approved to perform.
  • All approved teams will be notified by the 1st or 2nd week into November.
  • Upon approval, the REGISTRATION COMMITTEE will send an acceptance email with a special payment link to the Primary Contact to complete registration and make FULL Payment.
  • If you do NOT receive a payment link from Registration within 2-3 weeks, please do NOT fill out another application.  Contact the Artistic Committee directly by choosing “Artistic Committee” on the Contact Form.

Each approved team/couple will be guaranteed one performance at the Houston Salsa Congress.  Multiple team/couple performances will be approved on a case-by-case basis depending on availability.  If you have several performances, please contact the Artistic Committee with details prior to filling out another application.  Individuals can perform up to three times but it is the responsibility of the dancer to work within the assigned performance schedule.

PHASE THREE:  COMPLETING REGISTRATION & MAKING PAYMENT

  • Our REGISTRATION team handles all the registration and the payment process.
  • Registration will send approved teams a payment link.
  • Approved applicants have until November 30th to make FULL payment for ALL dancers.
  • Once expired, you can still complete your registration but a Service Fee now applies.
  • If FULL payment is not received by December 15th, your team will be taken off the roster.
  • If you have dancers performing on different teams, only one payment is required for that dancer.
  • IMPORTANT!  Register everyone on your team under the SAME email address!
  • If you do not know the names of your dancers at time of payment, YOU will have to accompany each dancer to registration to collect their pass OR you can pay a Service Fee per request to have it transferred into their name.

Even though the system allows duplicate registrations, Houston Salsa Congress DOES NOT.  We have a ONE-PASS-PER-PERSON policy.  All Sales are Final.  No Refunds.

PHASE FOUR:  CONFIRMATION & YOUR TICKETS

  • Once payment is received, the Primary Contact and all team members will be emailed ticketing information.
  • Please bring an electronic or paper copy to Registration on the day of the event with a valid PHOTO ID.
  • Performers can pick up their passes when Registration opens.

BEFORE YOU APPLY – THINGS YOU NEED:

Because we are a non-profit organization, we must require the same terms from every team.

  • Performances longer than 3 minutes will NOT be approved!  NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Applications without links will be DENIED!  Video does not have to be high quality. A practice video or the instructors performing is good enough. We use this content to determine placement on the roster and to make sure performance is appropriate.
  • If you do not have a link, open a FREE 2 GIG Dropbox account, upload your video and provide the link in the Performance Link.
  • You will also be asked for a full roster of those performing and Directors (2 max). You can send us an updated roster if changed.

  1. Sign Up for a free account (2 gigs).  You will be asked to download the App to your phone or to your computer.  You do NOT have to download the program to your computer.  Once you verify your email address, simply go to dropb.com and sign in.
  2. Upload your video.
  3. Click on the SHARE button to the right of the title of your video.
  4. Click on “Create a Link”, and then “Copy Link”
  5. Paste that link in the Performance Link field on your application.
