The Houston Salsa Dancers Inc. is a non-profit organization that has developed several programs that continues to teach inner city students how to dance. It's main purpose is not only to expose students to different latin communities, cultures, and heritage through dance, but also to facilitate a positive body image and increased self esteem. An integral part our mission is to offer yearly scholarships to students that are involved in the Houston salsa dance community.
In the year 2000, the Houston Salsa Congress began as the first of its kind in the State of Texas. This congress now continues a rich tradition with the fifth installment in a series that highlights the beauty, creativity, and precision of latin dance.
The Texas Salsa Open Competition started in 2003 as a small competition that sent the winners to the World Salsa Competition in Puerto Rico. This event has grown over the years, and now is held in collaboration with Albert Torres, the worlds most prominent salsa promoter. The Texas Salsa Open II is now synonymous with the Houston Salsa Congress. Competitors from Mexico and all over the United States come to Houston for the opportunity to compete as Houston's representative in this year's 4th Annual World Salsa Championships in Orlando, FL.
The Congress Full Pass Package includes admission to all nights of the Texas Salsa Open II, all nights of the Houston Salsa Congress, and all workshops. Discounted Full Pass Packages are now available and will be offered based on a graduated pricing schedule as illustrated below.
The Congress Night Pass Package includes admission to all nights of the Texas Salsa Open II and all nights of the Houston Salsa Congress for a total of four nights. Discounted Night Pass Packages are now available and will be offered based on a graduated pricing schedule as illustrated below.

Houston Salsa Dancers, Inc is a non-profit organization that offers scholarships to students who are involved in community service “Salsa Programs” or are a part of a community-based Salsa Dance Program at schools or in our community.
The duty of the Scholarship Committee is to promote the scholarship program and encourage students to participate in the application process. In an effort to accomplish this goal, We ask for your help to reach potential candidates.
These scholarships will be given to deserving individuals who can demonstrate a willingness to pursue a higher education, but need financial assistance to do so. The money for these scholarships will be made available through the college or university that the student chooses. A student must be enrolling or already enrolled in a college institution to receive an award.
